DeVito ArtWorks, LLC has signed with AAM/Markosia Enterprises for a KONG: KING OF SKULL ISLAND five issue mini-series (with a special added issue zero currently in PREVIEWS’ August Edition). The series is written by Chuck Satterlee (Of Bitter Souls, Lexian Chronicles, Smoke & Mirror, and The Heretic) and drawn by newcomer Dan O’Connor. Cover art for issues one to five will be by fan favorite, Tommy Castillo.

Joe DeVito and Brad Strickland have collaborated again to write Merian C. Cooper's King Kong : A Novel

Merian C. Cooper’s KING KONG is the only KING KONG story specifically authorized with the name of King Kong’s creator, Merian C. Cooper. Written by Joe DeVito and Brad Strickland, it is an extensive rewrite of the original KING KONG novel first published in 1932. While remaining in the same 1930’s time frame, the adventure will greatly expand on the original story, and update it stylistically, socially and paleontologically.
Merian C. Cooper's ‘KING KONG’ incorporates all of the authors’ experience garnered over several years of work on their first Kong book and brings into full play their unique perspective on the Kong mythos. A full four additional chapters have been added to expand and add nuance to the story, particularly in regard to Kong’s rampage through New York City, and to supply paleontological accuracy in the encounters with the island’s dinosaurs. Characters are developed more fully, and the island's native inhabitants are portrayed more roundly as well.

This reinterpretation of KING KONG brings all aspects of the original story up to date and perfectly synchronizes with the new prequel/sequel for one unique storyline authorized with the Cooper name. Merian C. Cooper’s KING KONG will make a unique addition to the Kong mythos.

‘KING KONG’ ties in to the Cooper Estate authorized prequel/sequel to ‘KONG: King of Skull Island’ a visual novel by Joe DeVito and co-written with Brad Strickland that will fascinate all readers, both young and old. It digs deep into the lore of Kong and his island and answers many of the mysteries surrounding Kong and raises some of its own.
